A look into beauty, that doesn't harm our furry friends
It’s fall, and I’m being the odd-man out by not reaching for the more “deep berry” colors. C’mon, I’m in Hong Kong, and there is NO sense of fall here. I still can wear shorts, a t-shirt, and flip flops right now. So because of fall not really sinking in for me, I still am going for some neutral-esque colors.
Here’s what I’ve got:
1- Lipstick Queen ‘Saint Wine’: I think this brand hasn’t been around for too long, but the creator Poppy King is pretty much a lipstick guru. She has the attitude and know-how to rock any color, and created her own line to help girls feel the same way she does. The “Saint” and “Sinner” lines are a fantastic concept- Both lines have the same 20 colors, but Saint has only a 10% pigment, where Sinner has 90% pigment. So if you’re a newbie to trying a variety of colors like me, the Saint line should be right down your alley (although I want to try a Sinner color one of these days!!). The color I picked out is Wine, which Poppy describes as “a deep wine shade with just enough brightness to stop it being goth”. It’s super light, and you can build up the color a little bit, but it’s perfect for when I want to darken my lips just a tad.
2- NARS ‘Dolce Vita’ Velvet Matte Lip Pencil: I’ve never been known to reach for the matte colors, but this pencil is definitely the exception. This is a cult classic of NAR’s, and comes in more varieties than just the lip pencil (lipstick, sheer lipstick, lip gloss, and even blush!). Kinda glad I’m writing this post, I had no idea about that… might need to pick up…. more…. The only reason why I picked this up in a pencil is because I was trying to find the color my wedding day makeup artist used. All I remembered was that it was a lip pencil, and I thought this color was really close. Go figure it turned out to be a drugstore brand, Revlon’s Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey. Still, if I don’t want a sheer color on my lips, and am doing a more neutral eye, I like to reach for this color. I just read online someone describing it as a “neutral rosy red matte”- agreed!
3- Nyx “Natural” Mega Shine Lip Gloss: By far, my favorite nude color. I’m horrible at describing colors, but someone mentioned “pale pinky beige with a hint of mauve”. Even though it’s a lip gloss, it’s super creamy and not sticky at all! I love this for my “no-makeup” look, or if I’m attempting a darker eye. Really though it’s perfect for any look. As it says, there definitely is a glossy shine, but you can cancel that out by blotting a bit.
4- Soap & Glory “Plum Jam” Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick: After seeing pretty much every beauty guru on Youtube rave about these gloss sticks, I knew with my upcoming trip to Ireland and London that I’d have to get my hands on some of these. I was able to swatch all the colors, and this was one of the two that I picked up. Doesn’t dry out your lips at all, gives a little shine, and the color is rich and warm berry-like, in a light way, Oh lordie, and the smell?!? SOO GOOD- I really don’t need my lip products to smell fantastic but this vanilla scent I could hiff all day.
I’ll eventually move into the darker colors, but for now, I’m pretty content with these guys :3 What color are you rockin’ out lately?
