Sample Sundays- A trio! For sensitive skin

What’s this? A Sample Sunday, on time??  Yes, somehow I managed to pull myself together, buckle down, and get things right this time. Not with just one product no less, but three! Let’s get started:

I have a little container I keep in the bathroom with all my samples, and I just decided to dig in. I have an abundance of Lush samples (I seriously don’t even ask, they’re just soo darn generous!), and every time I shop at Apivita the associates throw as many sample packets at me as they can. Okay, not literally throw, but you get the idea. Somehow, I managed to pull three products that would work wonders for those with sensitive skin.

Let’s start in the order that I used these, that being with Lush’s Rub Rub Rub body scrub. Unlike other scrubs, the granules in RRR are so fine that it definitely feels more gentle and… delicate? At first wiff, I was not in love. Immediately the thought of laundry detergent entered my head. Lush would argue, saying it’s a blend of Mimosa and orange flower absolute. To each their own I suppose. The reason why I ended up with a sample of this is because the associate mentioned you can use RRR in your hair for volume in the same way you use Lush’s Big shampoo. I did try it, and it just didn’t compare. Yet I understand the reasoning- the granules rubbing against each hair strand makes it thicker temporarily. This round I just used the leftover amount on my arms- it did feel rather nice, and after rinsing off my arms did feel a bit moisturized (probably due to the lemon oil, even though it isn’t high up on the ingredients list).

Regular size = 11.8 oz

US: $21.95 UK: £8.25 HK: $140

Bottom Line: I have scrubs I’m definitely more into, but I would HIGHLY suggest this if you have more sensitive skin, as the smaller granules would work best for you.

Next up: Lush’s 9 to 5 cleanser. I received this when I was doing a comparison between Lush’s Ultrabland. 9 to 5 is a watery, almost runny consistency that you can use for both cleansing your face and removing makeup. It’s a very soothing, sensitive-skin friendly formula that pulls anything off your face in the least aggressive manner possible. I wasn’t a fan of the smell with this one either. This time my mind kinda wandered into the type of floral scents you think your grandmother would love. Lush describes those being dove orchid and everlasting flower absolute. Whatever it is, I’m not the biggest fan. I’ve definitely learned to lean towards more aggressive cleansers, so this just did not meet my expectations. That, along with part of my eyeshadow did not come off my eyes, after a minute or so of massaging it on my skin.

Regular size = 8.5 oz (there is a smaller size too, 3.4 oz)

US: $21.95 UK: £9.50  HK: $160

Bottom Line: Again, not for me, but would be great for those who have more sensitive skin, and don’t need to remove a lot of makeup. ESPECIALLY NOTHING WATERPROOF. Also, a small size would probably be great to throw in your gym bag to wash your face really quick after a workout. This is in no way drying, and you will not feel a tightness in your skin.

Last but not least, I tried out Apivita’s Natural Serum- Hydration. This is very… well, HYDRATING, along with soothing, thanks to the aloe. For those with dry skin, hyaluronic acid is your best friend. I used this in place of my Aesop Parsley Seed serum, and it worked out beautifully. Very easy to apply all over the face, and just a few drops handles the task perfectly. I noticed a less tacky finish once the serum dried, which was appreciated. It does come at a hefty price tag, but if this suits your skin, you’ll probably fall in love.

Regular size = 15ml

US: $40.00 UK: €32.00 HK: (** will get back to you! blargh why don’t they have an online resource, grrrrr!)

Bottom Line: I’m a big fan of Apivita, and I love how they strive to use ingredients that won’t hurt the environment, along with kicking out synthetic ingredients that can hurt you. Two big thumbs up here.

I hope I made up for some very tardy past entries for Sample Sunday. I’m just a few hours away from getting to see my husband again after a couple weeks of being apart, and I’ll also be reunited with a lot of my US haul goodies and my CAMERA (sorry for all these iphone pictures lately, bleh!). So PLENTY more posts coming your way soon! <3<3
