Sample Sunday: Tarte’s BB Tinted-Treatment 12 hour primer

Tarte has a lot going on with it’s foundations, and with a past order from Sephora I got my hands on this sweet little sample: *takes a deep breath* Tarte’s BB Tinted-Treatment 12 hour primer with broad spectrum SPF 30 . That is a long title, yeesh! You can pretty much tell what this is from the name- a BB cream (aka: beauty/blemish balm) that has a little bit of color, that also can act as a priming first-step in your foundation routine, furthermore packed with SPF. I only used this as-is, with nothing on top aside from a little extra dab of concealer here or there. The colors may seem a little limited, but I was able to work with both the fair and light. If one of them was horrible off, it didn’t show, lol! Tarte’s primer gave me that extra little bit of color I needed to blend out any redness or slight discoloration on my face. It’s a light product though, so don’t expect any heavy coverage. There was definitely that silicone-slick feeling to it, which was noticeable to me if I really thought about it, but not enough to aggravate me. I think this is due to it’s nature, being both a primer and a SPF cream. Going up to 30 is kind of impressive, and probably what I should be using, instead of my SPF 15 daily moisturizer.  My friend did compliment me on my skin while wearing it, so it does have that going for it, hehe! I’m still a little torn if I’ll actually purchase the full size- coming in at $34 for 1.0 fl oz does seem a bit hefty. Wait.. I just realized I purchased Tarte’s Colored Clay CC Primer stick, which is .51 oz and is $35….hmmm~.. Anyways, I do think this product has a lot going for it.

  • It’s a 3-in-1, acting as a BB/primer/SPF
  • Nice, light coverage that can help reduce redness
  • a SPF up to 30 is pretty impressive
  • this could also kick out your morning moisturizer (so.. a 4-in-1?)

I’m still holding off bc I haven’t used many foundations with SPF in it, and that feeling is definitely something I need to adjust to. Aside from that, I would recommend this product. Have you tried it? Let me know your thoughts!

I’ve had my tarte bb primer for over a year id say, I have the second lightest shade, and I have to say I’m really disappointed with it. It might just be on my skin but I oxidizes like crazy. I have a completely orange face a few hours in, I can’t wear it without looking looking like I had a tanning mishap. It’s a shame because it feels great on the skin and provides decent coverage. Might just be the colour on my particular skin, though.

That’s really interesting to hear!! I even split one of the colors into two different uses, and I didn’t really have a problem with it changing color. Did they revamp the formula? Or are the samples just lucky somehow? Lol

Might just be my skin and the way it reacts to the ingredients! I’ve only ever seen one review with the same issues as me. Otherwise it’s a great base with really nice ingredients 🙂

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
