Blushing Biddies

A look into beauty, that doesn't harm our furry friends

A Beauty Blogger Exchange- Canada style!

All the new goodies, squeeee! ❤

Although the internet can be full of crazy, scary people, it also consists of those who are amazingly kind and sweet. Through my blogging experiences here on Blushing Biddies, I’ve “met” a few people who are also pursuing the cruelty free lifestyle, one lovely lass being Brianna from Cruelty Free Me. We follow each other’s blogs, and one day Brianna mentioned wanting to get her hands on a Tangle Teaser- coincidentally, I just happened to get my hands on one for myself. One thing led to another, and we decided that a beauty exchange was in order! She hails from Canada, which meant we would be able to swap products from brands not available in each other’s home turf. The brand that stood out to me the most was Bourjois, and Brianna definitely did not disappoint! Let’s take a quick gander at all the items: (anything in italics is info from the brand site, then regular text is from me! <3)

Soap & Glory Sexy Motherpucker Lipplumping Gloss in “Baby Doll”: ‘Fasten your seat belts! It’s Super-Colour Sexy Mother Pucker! SUPERFILL™ Lip Plumping Spheres and LIPSWELL™ Volume Boost Technology will add serious plumping power to your pout. Our NEW Baby Doll shade is a light, rosy pink colour with a fabulous chocolate/raspberry flavour. $1 from every purchase will be donated to STOMP Out Bullying™.’  I’ve barely stepped foot in Soap & Glory’s cosmetic line, let alone a lip-plumping gloss! The chocolate-raspberry scent is very nice, and I can’t wait till I can experience what big ol’ lips I’ll have after using this 😄

The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder: ‘Give your skin an even, bronze matte finish with a honey-enriched pressed powder.’ This is a product I’ve definitely heard about in the beauty community, and I can’t wait to try it out. I now have 3 bronzers in my collection, and there’s no more excuses in not attempting to contour now.

Bourjois Color Boost Lip Crayon in “Peach on the Beach”: ‘A LIP CRAYON BURSTING WITH VIBRANT COLOUR AND IRRESISTIBLE MOISTURE!’ /’Its waterproof colour and SPF 15 make Colour Boost both practical and beautiful!  This is a tried-and-true recommendation from Brianna, and it was love at first swatch for me! The color is so creamy and beautifully pigmented. If you’ve read my blog long enough, lip crayons are kind of my obsession ^^;; With a SPF bonus, what’s not to love? (8/14 update: Bourjois is not cruelty free)

Burt’s Bees tinted lip balm in “Rose”: ‘For just a hint of color and a whole lot of conditioning. The Botanical Waxes in these softly tinted balms will take your lips to lovely in one pretty swipe.’  When I started my cruelty free lifestyle, I remember throwing out a lot of my Nivea tinted lip balms. I really did like those guys, and now I’m happy to know I have a replacement for them! This glides on much easier, and provides a nice subtle shine.

Nyx Le Frou Frou mascara: Features a smudge-free formulation that adds mega length and volume to the lashes, taking them to new heights/ Dense dome brush reaches each and every lash.’  This is a newer mascara that was released earlier this year from Nyx in a collection with 6 other formulas. I haven’t ventured very far into different types of mascara, as my 2 go-tos are Physician’s Formula Organic Wear and 100% Pure Black Tea mascara. Brianna wanted to try this out too, so keep an eye out for both our reviews on this one!

Nyx Wonder Pencil in “Light”: ‘ CONCEAL flaws and blemishes with creamy precision; LINE your lips against lipstick bleeding and fading; and BRIGHTEN your eyes along the water line.’  Brianna just wrote a post for a FOTD, mentioning how she loved to use this in her waterline to brighten up her eyes. I’ve yet to try this technique and was very interested, so imagine my delight when I saw this in my package :3

Bourjois Blush Exclusif: ‘SELF-ADJUSTS INTO A BESPOKE PERSONALIZED PINK WHEN APPLIED’  / ‘Thanks to its pH-reactive pigments, it self-adjusts into a bespoke pink for a fresh complexion and made-to-measure healthy glow.’ / ‘Blush Exclusif uses Bourjois unique cream-to-powder technology, offering unrivaled blending quality and a buildable result.’  This is the only product I actually already have! Yet I don’t have it on me at the moment… it is currently with all my other possessions I sent from HK -> Seattle via boat. I don’t have a blush color as light as this in my current stash, which helps me out because what better time to wear this kind of shade than in the springtime? The formula is great, and the color that appears with my ph is very pleasing. Can’t wait to work this back into my routine! (8/14 update: Bourjois is not cruelty free)

Bourjois Rouge Edition lipstick in “13- jet set”: ‘TESTED AND APPROVED BY FASHION EDITORS! SHINE WRAPPED COLOUR WITH 10 HOUR HYDRATION’  I was originally hoping for the Color Shine lipsticks, but it looks like they haven’t hit the shelves in Canada. When Brianna mentioned this line being available, I just said go for a bold color and I’ll try it out. This definitely is a beautiful orange-red, and it feels FANTASTIC on the lips! This might be a dangerous addiction, I might want more…^^; (8/14 update: Bourjois is not cruelty free)

L to R: Bourjois Exclusif blush, Bourjois Rouge Lipstick, Soap & Glory Baby Doll lip plumping gloss, Burt’s Bees tinted lip balm, Nyx Wonder Pencil, and The Body Shop’s Honey Bronzer

Brianna was also nice enough to send me a beautiful card with her thoughts on the products she selected, along with some sweets that I can’t get a hold of here in the US. I’m trying to be good and not each all of them in one go.. but… I’m not making any promises here. I really can’t wait to try all of these products, everything aside from the blush is new for me, and this is all the new makeup I’ll have until No Money May is over with. Seriously Brianna, thank you soo much for everything, I really had a blast doing this, and I love getting products you’ve suggested or wanna try out together! I’d be happy to do another round sometime! ❤

Wow I love this idea of a cruelty free lifestyle. This is so inspiring and definitely a lifestyle I will aspire to from now on! Thanks for introducing it to me. Your blog is so well written and thorough, I am so impressed! Good job.
