Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask

IMG_6160

The last Bite Beauty bit I have in my collection is the infamous Agave Lip Mask. This product definitely went through the beauty community at the end of 2013, since it was the colder season and everyone was hoping this would be a solution for dry, chapped lips. Also, the word ‘mask’ in the name was very intriguing for everyone, but it’s the best description for this product. Balm, chap-stick, or salve wouldn’t really do it justice- the formula is extremely thick and tacky. Don’t look at this in a negative way though! Because of this, it’s able to stay on your lips and do it’s job way longer than any other balm can. I would suggest using this as an overnight mask for your lips, as the product will stay on all night, to the point that you’ll probably still notice it on your lips the next morning. So you can give sweet, agave kisses to your loved one, right? Agave is a syrup and is very sweet, but it isn’t the kind of taste you’d want to start eating out of the tube. Another way to use this product was suggested by Ashley from MakeupTIA, or Makeup ‘That is All’. She suggests using this as a makeshift lip gloss- apply the Agave Lip Mask on your lips, and then lightly dab a lipstick over it to make your own lip gloss. With the staying power the mask has, your newly created lip gloss will probably last longer than other glosses in your collection. I haven’t tested this out yet, but I hope to do so soon! My only complaint about this product is the packaging- the product reaaaaaallly does not want to come out, and requires a bit of elbow grease. I’ve even read some bloggers accidentally puncturing their package, yikes! What do you think?

I hope you enjoyed this week’s focus! Do you have any other cruelty free brands you’d like me to try out? I have my eyes on Ilia Beauty, but I’d love to hear your suggestions too, whether it’s makeup or skincare!

Love the Agave Lip Mask, whenever I’m at my boyfriend’s house I sneak some because it makes your lips sooo smooth after! 🙂
Also I loved this brand focus! Such a great idea. I recently discovered that I have an Ilia beauty retailer close to me so I’d love to see your recommendations for them!

!!!!! I’m VERY jealous you have a retailer! I’m kinda smitten with their lime right now- my husband wants me to get the color Bang Bang- not sure what else I might grab but it all looks great! I have the peek-a-boo lip gloss, it’s just enough to make your lips filled n juicy. I wrote a post about it, focusing on layering with a color to make things more muted 😀

Sounds great! 🙂 Yes Ilia is sooo tempting all the lipsticks look so beautiful! There’s 2 Ilia retailers in Seattle, I just looked it up, not sure if they’re at all in your area, but they’re at:

    E.SMITH MERCANTILE
    208 First Avenue South
    Seattle WA 98104

    Les Amis
    3420 Evanston Avenue N
    Seattle WA 98103-8863

I’m definitely gonna swing by the e. mercantile place soon- from what I gather online, they don’t carry the whole collection, but at least they have something! As for the other place, I’ve never been to the Fremont area yet, I wonder what it’s like!
