A look into beauty, that doesn't harm our furry friends
Alright, it’s the post you may of been waiting for if you’ve been sticking with me for this week’s brand-focused post on 100% Pure. Today, I actually have more bad to say than good about a product. *gasp!* Behold, the Lemongrass Deodorant. It looks pretty normal, right? It’s not nearly as intimidating as other natural deodorants available, such as the Schmidt‘s where you need to dip into the paste with your fingers and apply to your underarms. No no, this deodorant is in a familiar and friendly stick-form that you can apply directly to your underarm.
With it’s base of sunflower oil and beeswax, it applies smoothly and evenly, especially if you give the stick a chance to warm up against your skin. It’s also thanks to this base that it doesn’t leave any infamous white-streaks on your clothing. So, what’s the bad thing? This…smells….awful. And I mean awful! Unfortunately, this was one of the very few products that didn’t have a tester in the store, but I absolutely love the smell of Lemongrass. I actually have the Primal Pit Paste deodorant in Thyme and Lemongrass, and I absolutely love it. Yet for some reason the 100% Pure Lemongrass Deodorant smells decent on it’s own, but once it’s applied on the skin the scent transforms completely. The best way I can describe it is a combination of marijuana and feet. It REALLY isn’t pleasant. I used this more than once, and it never got any better. You name it- right after a shower, on a no-shower-day, after thoroughly cleansing my underarm- the scent never changed. Luckily for me, I have a receipt, and since I purchased this item from the store I WILL be taking it back. Luckily for me, there is one other scent I can try out, Peppermint. Yet do I dare take the risk? I might be happier just opting out for another Lip Glaze. But in my honest opinion, there are so many other items in the 100% Pure collection, along with other companies that seem to have the natural deodorant thing down to a science, so I’d pass on this if you’re in any way tempted. If you want my suggestions for natural deodorants, try checking out this post I wrote where I put 5 different brands to the test.
