The “Starting Over” Tag

I was feeling kind of uninspired for a beauty-review post today, so I turned to the internet to help me find something to write. It didn’t take long till I found a blogger in my Bloglovin feed who did the Starting Over Tag, and I was sold. This tag really challenged my way of thinking, as I never really thought my “must-have” makeup items would amount to soo much! The challenge is to pick only 16 of makeup items in a hypothetical situation of “if all my make-up were stolen, I would repurchase…?”. Well, I tried my darndest, and here’s what I came up with:

  1. Urban Decay Naked 2 palette: My tried-and-true, go-to palette. I can anything from a simple one-shadow sweep to a seductive smokey-eye with this palette. The formula is amazing, and the brush included is also pretty fab. I’m a little less-enthusiastic about UD being owned by a parent company that isn’t cruelty free, but truly this is the best for what’s currently in my collection.
  2. Tarte Be Mattenificent palette: Although this palette it completely matte, it is more well-rounded than the Naked 2 considering it has not only eyeshadows, but a blush and 2 eyeliner colors. I had to add this in because I can use this for eyes, cheeks, AND eyebrows. Yep, the dark brown color does work well with my bushy brows, who would of thunk it? Same story as with Urban Decay, Tarte was recently purchased by a parent company that isn’t CF, but it’s the best thing in my current collection. If I could purchase anything to start anew, this selection would be very different!
  3. Zuii Organic Certified Organic Flora Blush: I’ve raved about this blush before, but it’s a dupe of Nars Orgasm blush with INCREDIBLY less glitter. The color comes from crushed up pigments from petals, and I truly feel like I princess when I wear this. Can’t get enough! ❤
  4. Daniel Sandler Watercolor Blush in “Angel“: It was love at first swipe with this beaut. No blush has ever looked so natural on my skin, and the colors lasts all day, through sweat and time!
  5. Physicians Formula Organic Wear Mascara: My holy grail mascara. I’ve raved and raved, but you can see my full thoughts here.
  6. Orly Sec ‘N Dry topcoat: Sounds silly, but there was no way I could do this post without some polishes. And with two colors in the mix, I had to add my holy grail topcoat. It dries fast, and lets my manicure last a little longer, even when I put them through a tough day’s work.
  7. BarryM Gelly Hi-Shine polish in “Blood Orange“: There isn’t much orange in this, but it’s a warmer red. That’s not the main point though- BarryM Gelly polishes are the most amazing things ever and I want ALL OF THEM. *swoons*
  8. Deborah Lippmann in “Across the Universe”: Have you seen swatches of this? I have some- it pretty much says it all here .
  9. Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Eye Shadow in “Playa del Pink“: A newer edition to my collection, but this color and formula is just pure perfection. No primer needed, works great as a base or on it’s own, and actually helps moisturize your eyelids. Ahhhhh-mazing!
  10. RMS Beauty un-cover up in “00“: If I had to pick a foundation, this would be it. It works well, and is 100% cruelty free. Plus, it works great as a concealer on it’s own too. Plus plus, if I get desperate and need a primer, this could work.
  11. Bourjois Healthy Mix Illuminating Concealer in “Light Radiance”: **I’m starting to see some conflicting information on if this brand really is CF or not.. so just a heads up there** This is the best under-eye concealer I have, and boy do I need it!
  12. Josie Maran Argan Love Your Lips Hydrating Lipstick in “Happy Honey”: My #1 colored lip treatment. The oil really penetrates into your lips, where as more chapsticks sit on the top of your lips. Along with having a natural and beautiful color, this one was a no-brainer, as it’s in my purse  24/7.
  13. Bite Beauty Luminous Crème Lipstick in “Lavender“: I wanted one of my lip colors to me a little more exciting, so I went with this year’s “Color of the Year”, vibrant orchid. Paired with Bite Beauty’s beautiful formula, this provides just the perfect amount of purple to your lips, but still manages to look normal. You can see my post about it here.
  14. Ilia Beauty Lip Conditioner in “Blossom Lady“: If I could have 2 perfect lip colors, this would be one of them. It lasts on my lips, and looks so beautiful and effortless.
  15. Too Faced bronzer in “Pink Leopard“: I don’t reach for bronzer regularly, but if I want a little extra color and life injected to my skin, I reach for this. Blush + Bronzer in 1, easy peasy, never has done me wrong.
  16. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette: I realized that I actually use every color in this palette- dim light as a setting powder, incandescent light to set my under-eye makeup, and radiant light for subtle contouring. It’s just soo beautiful!

Of course once I took pictures and wrote up little description of each product, I realized this tag meant both beauty AND personal care products. *face palm* so I quickly snapped another photo of my all-time essentials:

These three products easily make my face-washing routine. Cleanse with the Acure Facial Cleanser, tone with Paula’s Choice Skin Balancing Toner, and follow up with moisturizing by using Josie Maran’s Argan Oil Light. These aren’t the only products I’m using in my face-washing routine, but if you had to break it down into it’s bare minimum, this would be it. Of course, as I write this, I would need some sort of make-up remover too, and in the end my product of choice would be LUSH’s Ultrabland cleanser.

Yay, I did it!

I may of cheated by having an extra 4 products, but the tag is finished, huzzah! If you feel like doing this tag (or you have done it), I’d love to read up on your essentials! In the meanwhile, I’m going to tag:
