A look into beauty, that doesn't harm our furry friends
I’ve been on the hunt for a foundation and concealer that is 100% cruelty free, and I think I landed on a good one. (Not to switch topics, but I’m a little miffed with Tarte recently being purchased by a non-CF parent company, and possibly my beloved Bourjois ISN’T cruelty free…*sigh* ) (8/14 update: Bourjois is not cruelty free), I heard rumors of a beloved brand that was formulated for Victoria Secret models, or something of that sort, and immediately I was intrigued enough to start doing more research. A few Google searches and an online sale later, the RMS Beauty “Un” Cover-Up in “00” was soon in my possession.
First, a super-quick back-story on the brand. RMS Beauty was created by Rose-Marie Swift (thusly, RMS), a successful makeup artist who’s worked with the greatest of greats in fashion and beauty. After years of working in the cosmetics industry, she suddenly started suffering from health problems that were triggered from her career. Once she got her health back on track, she got to work on her own cosmetics line that contained none of the harmful chemicals and ingredients that caused her to fall ill in the first place. Her line of products contain no harmful chemicals, preservatives, synthetic dyes or fragrances, or GMOs. The ingredients are both food grade (similar to my beloved Bite Beauty) and organic, which pretty much means you’re about to get the best of the best for your skin along with looking fantastic. All this, along with being cruelty free, is music to my ears.
There are only 5 shades available for their “un” cover-up, and I purchased the lightest- “00”. If applied heavily, it does come off a little light for my skin, but once you blend it out it actually matches my skin tone almost perfectly. Heck, I really don’t mind being a little lighter, I’ll take the title “porcelain princess” any day! I’ve used this both as a concealer for spot-treatments along as for my full face foundation, and I’ve been pleased each time. I can set it lightly with a little of my Hourglass powder in Dim Light if I want a more matte look or I can wear it alone for foundation. As a concealer, I like to set it with the Hourglass Incandescent Light powder. Especially for under my eyes, I do seem to crease the most there anyways. Either way, it lasts with me throughout the day. It even held up with a little bit of a workout when my husband and I went out for a mini-hike, which you can see here in action in my GRWM (get ready with me) video. I do like to apply it on my skin with my fingers with gentle dabs, but you can also use a synthetic brush. I was worried I was going to fly through the .20oz/5.67g of product, but as of yet I’ve barely made a dent! It comes in a beautiful and hefty little glass container along with a metal lid. I’m hoping this lil’ guy will be my BFF all throughout winter, as with the colder seasons come drier skin. Coconut oil and castor seed oil are the first ingredients, which helps the “un” cover-up do a wonder job to help keep skin moisturized. Speaking of ingredients:
*Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, *Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, *Cera Alba (Beeswax), *Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, *Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Tocopherol(non-GMO), *Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Extract, and may contain: [+/- Titanium Dioxide CI 77891, Iron Oxides CI 77492, CI 77491, CI 77499]
* CERTIFIED ORGANIC
Have you tried any RMS products yet? I have another post coming soon with the other item I snagged, but I’d love to hear your suggestions if you have any!
