Blushing Biddies

A look into beauty, that doesn't harm our furry friends

My new hand soap

I gotta admit, today’s post might not be the most exciting thing ever, but I wanna show you both the hits and the misses of what I find in the beauty world. My last visit to the 100% Pure store in Seattle had a few hits, but this item just didn’t really make the list. It was completely an impulse buy, as I needed to make a certain $ amount to get a free gift-with-purchase, so I reached for the scent with a slight autumnal scent and considered myself good to go. When you look at the packaging though, how can you say no? It’s so quaint and cute, and when I held the bar up to my nose I could detect the faint scent of granny smith apples. I knew I was going run out of my other hand soap soon (my hands are super sensitive for some reason so I really need to stick to bar soap, ugh), so I figured with the mild ingredients this would do the job.

Ingredients: Saponified Oils of Cocos Nucifera (Virgin Coconut), Olea Europaea Fruit (Extra Virgin Olive), Rosa Canina (Rosehip) Seed and Vitis Vinifera Seed (Grapeseed), Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Persea Gratissima Oil (Avocado Butter), Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Pyrus Malus (Apple) Extract

Pretty exciting stuff, right?

Looks like a pumice stone, but isn’t!

Out of the packaging, I was slightly underwhelmed by how simple the bar came out to be. It’s really how the product performs that counts, but putting a little extra TLC in the packaging never hurt anyone, right? It really is a simple white bar, free of any dyes, synthetic fragrances, or decorations.

Considering how huge the bar came out to be, I cut it into three pieces and keep one at the bathroom sink. I’ve had it there for approximately 2 weeks, and I’m not really enthralled. The scent isn’t anything spectacular, and the soap overall is just very mild. You don’t get a ton of suds, and it almost feels waxy when you rub the bar between your hands. I come out of the whole hand-washing experience wondering ‘are my hands really clean?’ considering how mild it all feels. 100% Pure does offer 8 different scents total- maybe Apple Butter was just a dud? They have a lot of other stronger options in their body care line (like their body scub , soo soo good!), but I’d steer clear of the bar if you want my 2 cents.
