Blushing Biddies

A look into beauty, that doesn't harm our furry friends

theBalm: Instain blushes

Pinstripe on the left, Houndstooth on the right (applied with a light hand)

“theBalm’s long-wearing, STAINING powder blush is a fashion must have! With six shades, perfect for all seasons and skin tones, it will give your cheeks color that won’t quit.”

The next two items in my brand focus for theBalm are colors from the Instain blush line. With 6 colors in the collection total, I went with the “safest” and more season-appropriate colors, Pinstripe and Houndstooth. Pinstripe is a mauvey-plum color with a super-subtle golden sheen, where Houndstooth is a medium-toned rosey pink (the website says it’s a mauve, but that’s completely wrong from the color I see swatched on my cheeks and back of my hand- am I insane?). Right now Pinstripe is working beautifully for me in these autumn months, but if I want a fool-proof everyday blush Houndstooth is an easy go-to. Each blush comes in it’s own cardboard packaging, and has a thick substantial mirror on the inside. The most impressive quality to these blushes are the lasting power- this Instain line has INSANE long-lasting properties. *pats self on back* Just swatching these on the back of my hand has left a stain both on my hand and on the fingers I’ve picked up product with! With that said, a little goes a lloooonnggg way! I’d highly recommend using a loose blush brush that isn’t packed with too many bristles- I’m happy using my Real Techniques Duo-Fiber brush, but my long fluffy Real Techniques Blush brush works just as well (not the brush that came in the Nic’s Picks set- that one would be wwaayyyy too dense!). Retailing at $22 each, I think these are such a better deal than the Tarte Amazonian Clay blushes. These absolutely last longer on the cheeks, you need less product when applying, and technically you get your product at a better price tag (the Balm, .23oz, $22 <vs> Tarte, .2 oz, $26). The one drawback is that there are only 6 colors- if they expanded their color line, I think theBalm would give Tarte a run for it’s money! Have you tried any of the Instain blushes? Keep an eye out on Hautelook, that’s where I picked up these lovelies from, and probably at half the original retail price ❤

theBalm Instain blush in “Pinstripe” and “Houndstooth”, $22; available online at thebalm.com, nordstrom.com, kohls.com (( I personally saved more than 50% when I purchased off of Hautelook))

Those two colours you got are simply beautiful! I’m loving plum hued blushes a lot at the moment! The packaging of theBalm products is one of my favourites too! And with stain blushes the secret is a light hand and a good stippling brush indeed!
Totally loved your post! Haha! 🙂
