Blushing Biddies

A look into beauty, that doesn't harm our furry friends

Boxing up for perspective?

Now that I’ve moved to a new place, I’m also ready to take on some new beauty habits. First and foremost, I’ve been pretty keen on an idea fellow cruelty free beauty blogger Brianna from Cruelty Free Me mentioned in one of her most recent blog posts here. She keeps a tray of makeup items she’ll use for the week/month on top of her vanity, and that’s what she goes for. No digging into her stash of makeup, just focusing on some goodies/”tried-and-true”/things that need a little TLC after neglect.

Keepin’ it real with you all, but I’ve barely worn any makeup in the past month, so I really needed a new habit to get my booty back in gear, and I think this is a winner! Let’s take a look at what I picked up for the ETA week:

  • It Cosmetics CC+ full coverage cream in “Fair”
  • sample of Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation in “Gobi”
  • RMS “un” cover-up in “00”
  • Becca Dual Coverage Compact Concealer in “Tahini”

Lips (left to right)

  • Ilia Beauty Tinted Lip Conditioner in “Blossom Lady”
  • The Body Shop Colour Crush in “15”
  • Nars Satin Lip Pencil in “Rikugien”
  • Nars Satin Lip Pencil in “Descanso”

Cheeks (clockwise)

  • RMS lip2cheek in “Modest”
  • e.l.f. All Over Color Stick in “Pink Lemonade”
  • Josie Maran Color Stick in “Happy”

Highlighters (left to right)

  • Too Faced “Snow Bunny”
  • Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Spotlight in “Pearl”

All the stuff for eyes!

  • Hourglass Modernist Eyeshadow Palette in “Infinity”
  • Too Faced Bulletproof Brows in “Universal Brunette”
  • Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Eyeshadow in “Playa Del Pink”
  • Lily Lolo mineral eyeshadow in “Vanilla Shimmer”
  • Modernist Minerals Shimmer Eyeshadow in “En Pointe”
  • Tarte Lights Camera Lashes mascara

All that goodness just stays in this little box, on top of my vanity. No more looking through every-single-lipstick color to decide on what to wear- for the week, I’m just limited to what’s in my box! I’m writing this on Wednesday evening, and I’ve been holding true to the rules, not reaching for other color options in my collection, and in all honesty it’s made makeup application a lot easier! Granted, I may not have the best color combinations, but I can make a look work! This also really helps me gather my thoughts on certain things I could probably just let sit in the back of my collection and gather dust. I’m especially bad with that for samples, but I’ve been putting that new Nars foundation to the test, and I’ll use it up by the end of this week, HUZZAH (and thank goodness- but I’ll fill you in on a Sample Sunday!).

The only exception to other products I can use are what you can see here, which mainly consists of brushes and some extra eye goodies (primers, liners, clear mascara). If I could only use 5 brushes for a week, I think I’d be in a pinch, because I am -horrible- with just setting for the basics. I love my options!

Do any of you organize your makeup like this? Or do you like having your whole collection at your disposal? I’d love to hear the methods, it gives me inspiration!

Holy look at all that cruelty free goodness!! 🙂 I hope this method works out well for you! Sometimes I become a hoarder and there’s so much make up on my vanity so I constantly have to remind myself to clean house every two weeks or so 🙂

I was doing this as well for awhile! I loved it and felt like I was actually working my way through some products, then I didn’t like how much room it took up on my vanity and I missed a lot of my products so I said forget it. It was so great while I did it though. I also LOVE that Becca concealer, I have the same one in Banana and it works amazing.

I’m so awful at keeping track of replies, gah! Even with it being May now, I -still- love this technique! When I pick the goodies I want from my main stash, it’s kinda like I’m shopping, which is fabulous because I’m on a no-makeup ban for quite.. some time, LOL! Definitely gonna check out your page too, thanks for stoppin by 😀

I love this idea! I do something sort of like this but I like the idea of switching it out every now and again 🙂 Any thoughts on the Nars foundation yet? I’m on the last drops of my IT cc cream and I’m torn on whether to repurchase or not.

I’m a million years late in replying back, what’s wrong with me? Well, you know how I feel about Nars, lol! Did you end up getting the CC cream again? It’s just… soo… GOOD!

I did not! It got way too greasy on me as my skin gets much more oily in the summer 😦 I hope they come out with an oily skin friendly version! I got the Pur Minerals tinted moisturizer which I’m digging so far. It’s not as perfect of a color match as the IT stuff but it works for summer. 🙂

I love Ilia Beauty, RMS Beauty, and Lily Lolo.

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
